QEP First-Year Course Initiative
Foundations for Learning - GSD 101 - 3 credit hours
The EKU Council of Academic Affairs approved the pilot implementation of a new first year course for Fall 2008 entitled Foundations For Learning (GSD 101), for up to 500 first-time freshmen who are undeclared in major. GSD 101 is being developed as one of the major university-wide program initiatives of the recently approved EKU Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The intent of the course is to provide foundational knowledge and skills in critical and creative thinking and to increase student success and retention.
A broad representation of faculty and professional staff members of the EKU community have been involved in shaping the course elements thus far and will continue to be involved as the course is implemented. A core group of instructors is currently being sought to form the Foundations for Learning Instructor Learning Community that will further develop and teach the course in Fall 2008.
